"I was born in Cairo, Egypt to Armenian parents and raised in Montreal where I studied photography. Since the age of sixteen, I have been photographing seriously. I have been living and working in Alberta since 1977. I am dedicated to my full time practice as a commercial photographer in Alberta. My photographic works include special commissions, architectural, corporate, equine, and portraiture. My photographs hang in many private collections, corporate offices, and government buildings." Arto has spent 5 years photographing the warden horses at the Ya Ha Tinda Ranch in Clearwater County, Alberta. His approach to his photographs is like that of street photography, he prefers to capture the candid rather than the staged. In his photograph, 3 Palaminos, he sat under a tree for most of the day waiting for the perfect moment when all 3 were in perfect alignment.
