Three Sisters, Late Spring
Gift of David Foxcroft, Canmore, 2018
According to his artist’s statement, David Foxcroft employs a methodology that starts with a diverse mass of photo pieces that, through trial and error, he sorts through to become the building blocks of a collage. By stacking these pieces in method based on random application, he begins to construct an entirely new idea. He says, “Three dimensional and two dimensional elements affixed to the surface create a symbolic play between the literal nature of the support and the nonliteral painted surface. The work is pictorial architecture, a construction.”
